As we transition into winter you may be thinking of ways to keep your home warm and cozy. There are many ways to keep your home warm and inviting during the cool months such as a nice fire, thick rugs and throw blankets. This is one of the unique parts of winter interior design, today I am sharing some of my favorite easy and budget friendly ideas to keep your home nice and homey all winter.
There is nothing quite as cozy as a nice soft throw is there? Not only are they functional but they can add texture and color to a room. For example, you can customize stylish prints on throws to add real personality to your space. This can also allow you to make your throw blend seamlessly to the style of the overall room. These kinds of throws also make great gift ideas.
One easy way to help keep your home warm and inviting in the winter is as simple as checking your ceiling fan! By learning what kind of fan direction you should have for the winter, you can keep the whole house warm By bringing up the hot air and splashing upward onto the ceiling, the air will rebound back down and warm up the air that is being cycled up. This allows you to, in fact, keep your room looking the way it is, without it getting cold. Turn your heating down up by 4 degrees and you won’t feel any change, because the clockwise rotation of the fan is so effective.
The glow from a burning candle adds the perfect ambiance to any room. A nice seasonal scented candle adds a great touch to any home. During the winter I like to choose scents like Cinnamon, Cedar, or Holly to really bring the season to life.
One way to keep the heat in your home is to push it back in. Replace your rugged and rough welcome mat, with a thick woolen mat instead. Not only does it manage heat storage better but it’s a lot more stylish than a straw mat. It’s one of if not the first thing guests will see when they enter the home, so make it count.
