Keto Caramel Sauce is a combination of only four ingredients to make an amazing low carb topping that tastes just like traditional caramel! This sauce is buttery and satisfying, all while being extremely low carb. Enjoy this keto caramel sauce for less than one net carb a serving! Keto Caramel Sauce is so easy to prepare and comes together quickly, so you can whip up a batch in no time!

This sugar free caramel can easily be reheated without becoming grainy, so it will always have the perfect texture. It is amazing on your favorite dessert bars, cheesecakes, coffees, cookies- really anything! You also don’t need a candy thermometer for this easy keto recipe. This sauce is easy to store, so you can make a large batch and keep it handy for whatever treat you plan on making- or to just enjoy by itself! As an added bonus, this sauce is also gluten free!

Ingredients in this low carb Caramel Sauce

  • Butter- salted or unsalted
  • Heavy cream- you will need full fat heavy cream for this recipe
  • Allulose sweetener– NOT Swerve or monkfruit
  • Vanilla extract
  • Optional- sea salt

How do I make this homemade caramel syrup?

You will love how simple this keto recipe is to prepare! This recipe comes together in just four easy steps:

  1. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan. When the butter is completely melted, stir in the sweetener. 
  2. Allow the sweetener to begin to caramelize, stirring regularly for 6-8 minutes until a caramel like sauce begins to form.
  3. When the sugar has browned, carefully pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. The mixture will bubble, this is normal, just continue to stir the mixture. 
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt if using. As the caramel cools, it will thicken. 

Can I use a different type of sweetener for this keto caramel sauce?

No, I do not recommend it. Monkfruit or Swerve will cause this sauce to become quite granular when it is cooled or heated, which will add a grainy texture to your sauce. By using the Allulose sweetener you are ensuring that you’ll have the perfect silky smooth sauce every time! You can reheat this sauce as many times as you like and the texture will always come out as smooth! This sweetener is low calorie and it will not affect your blood sugar levels. The taste is also very pleasant and similar to sugar. 

Do I need a candy thermometer for this sauce?

A candy thermometer is not necessary for this recipe. You’ll only need to watch your pan to ensure that you have a smooth caramel.

How many carbs are in this keto dessert recipe?

You aren’t going to believe this, but there’s only 0.1 grams of net carbs per serving in this recipe! Yep, that’s it! This sauce is thick and rich, and while it tastes super indulgent, you can enjoy it guilt free!

How to Store and Reheat this keto caramel

To store this easy keto recipe, just keep in plastic or glass container with an airtight lid in your fridge. This sauce will stay fresh for up to one month. You also don’t need to bring it to room temperature when you are ready to use it- just stir and enjoy! If you are reheating this sauce, heat in a microwave safe container in 20 second increments until it is to your desired temperature.
