The Best Jalapeno Popper Dip
This creamy jalapeno popper dip is the perfect 7-ingredient appetizer recipe for cookouts, holidays, potlucks, and tailgate parties!

I am obviously a huge jalapeno fan — I put them in my mushrooms, I stuff them with sausage, and I even make cheesy keto taquitos with them. This time instead of putting two cups of jalapenos into a creamy soup, I’m mixing them into the most delectable, ultra-creamy dip! You only need seven common ingredients and 30 minutes for this year’s favorite dish.
Why you will love it:
- Super Simple – This recipe is so easy, beginner cooks will have no trouble with this. There are only 7 ingredients, but this recipe is very substitution friendly as well for those with allergies and intolerances.
- Meal Prep Friendly – This dish could be entirely prepped 1-2 days ahead of time, stored in the fridge, and then baked fresh for guests. This makes it easy to play host, relax, and enjoy your guests without stressing over food.
- Low-Carb & Keto Friendly – I’m not going to claim that this is healthy (shocker: it has bacon, cheese, and three types of creamy condiments in the sauce). However, it is naturally low-carb with under 3 total carbs per serving! The higher fat and protein content makes this similar to a keto fat bomb (just in the form of a tasty dip).

Ingredients
Here is a quick overview of what you will need. Scroll to the printable recipe card for exact measurements.
- Bacon – If you’re in a rush, feel free to use bacon bits.
- Cream cheese, Sour cream, and Mayonnaise – The holy trinity of creamy dips! Full-fat options will have a creamier texture, but low-fat options will work fine, too. You can replace sour cream with plain Greek yogurt to increase protein if you like. I have not used dairy-free substitutes, but I do believe the store-bought versions would work great.
- Ranch seasoning, Jalapenos, and Colby Jack Cheese – You want the dry seasoning mix, not the actual dressing (store-bought or homemade will work). Jalapenos should be chopped and seeded. Cheese should be shredded (feel free to swap flavors if you want).
How to Make the Best Jalapeno Popper Dip
This is an easy appetizer with three simple steps. You will need a skillet for the bacon, electric mixer and mixing bowl, and a deep-dish pie pan to bake the dip.
- Cook the chopped bacon (skip this step if using bacon bits).
- Use electric mixer to combine sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream cheese, then fold in most of the bacon, all the chopped jalapenos, and most of the shredded cheese.
- Smooth the mixture into a greased pie pan, top with the remaining cheese, and bake until dip is warmed through and cheese is bubbly. Before serving, top with remaining bacon pieces.

What to serve with jalapeno dip
We love this easy dip garnished with extra bacon, cheese, chopped herbs, sliced green onions, or even fried onions. It’s great with tortilla chips or a raw veggie platter for an easy snack. It makes a great party spread with Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms and Crunchy Popcorn Shrimp! Leftovers are absolutely fantastic to jazz up some Instant Pot Baked Potatoes.

Storage and Reheating
Store your jalapeno popper dip in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days. For the best texture upon reheating, allow the dip to cool completely before you close it in the container so you avoid the extra moisture sitting on top of the cheese. I do not recommend freezing this as the creamy texture tends to separate and become less desirable after thawing and reheating.
Leftovers can be microwaved (60 second bursts at 50% power, stirring between each blast). If you are prepping this ahead of time, I highly recommend holding off on the baking step until just before serving.
Tips and Suggestions
- You can assemble this all 1-2 days ahead of time, keep it in the fridge, then bake it fresh for easy prepping and hosting.
- Switch up cheeses and seasonings! Cheddar, pepper jack, Monterey, gouda, or a mixture of cheeses would be great. For other flavor profiles, try using a French onion dip seasoning packet, Italian dressing mix, or another seasoning blend.
- Use it in a variety of ways. This is a great dip for chips and raw vegetables, but it’s also amazing spread onto burgers or in wraps!
