Vanilla Bean Frappuccino
This homemade Vanilla Bean Frappuccino has no ice cream and is the perfect Starbucks copycat. Options for low-carb, dairy-free and gluten-free included!
While I love any- and everything coffee, I can’t say the same for everyone. One of my sisters absolutely cannot stand the taste or even the smell of it! The only thing that can make her step foot into a coffee shop is the promise of an ultra-creamy, delicious vanilla bean frappuccino. To save money, we’ve decided to recreate it at home! Maggie first just whipped up a milkshake and called it good, but I wasn’t satisfied… I wanted the icy, light-yet-decadent real thing! After trying several versions online and making some swaps for our own preferences, I can finally say we perfected it. If you’re craving that classic vanilla frapp from Starbucks, you are going to be completely obsessed!

Ingredients for a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Frappuccino
Generally, most homemade recipes for a vanilla bean crème frappuccino call for ice cream. It gives you the ultra creamy texture and the sweet vanilla kick.
However, I really wanted this drink to be something that I could enjoy anytime, not just a dessert. I also wanted to create a low-carb version so this vanilla frappuccino recipe contains no ice cream! Instead, you will need:
- Milk – Almond milk or whole milk will work.
- Frozen whipped cream – fat free, low fat or frozen coconut whipped cream all work
- Sweetener – honey, sugar, or sugar free alternatives like swerve or monkfruit
- Ice
- Vanilla beans

How to Make a Starbucks Vanillla Frappuccino
This recipe is super simple and can be whipped up in a matter of minutes. All you need are the 5 ingredients listed above and a good blender.
To make this Vanilla Bean Frappuccino:
- Add the milk, frozen whipped cream, sweetener, ice and vanilla bean “seeds” to a blender and blend until smooth. The mixture will be thick and creamy.
- If you want to make it just like the coffee shop version, top with whipped cream!
How to Make This Vanilla Bean Frappuccino Low-Carb
This recipe is so easy to adapt for a low-carb diet. Simply use unsweetened almond milk, a sugar-free frozen whipped cream option, and choose a sugar-free sweetener.
I have many keto and low-carb recipes on this site and I like using Swerve, Monk fruit, or Allulose as my sweeteners. I highly encourage you to try a few out for yourself as different people have different preferences.

Tips for Making a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino at Home
- The only thing even slightly tricky about this recipe is the vanilla bean. If you haven’t ever used them before, just slice the vanilla bean lengthwise and you will see tiny black seeds. Use a sharp knife to scrape them out.
- You’ll want to use a high powered blender for this recipe. If your blender isn’t high powered, use crushed ice instead of regular ice.
- If desired, you can add a shot of espresso (or brewed coffee) to this recipe for a boost of caffeine and coffee flavor.

can I substitute greek yogurt for the whipped cream ?
I think that would hugely alter the flavor and consistency of your Frappuccino, making it a bit more like a tangy smoothie. If you try it, we’d love to know how it goes!
This recipe is so good. I’ve tried so many recipes, and this is the only one that wasn’t gross and artificial tasting. I loved this recipe though, thanks for sharing it with the world.
OMG it’s so good 🙂

Its so good ….I think lol I’m in the middle of making it lol
Caviar, the “little seeds” are called caviar, and this recipe is very good. Glad I found you.
Robin, I had no idea! 🙂 I am so glad you clarified that! I love working on “at home” versions of my favorite restaurant foods, I am so glad you enjoy this one too! 🙂
I was wondering if you could infuse whipping cream with the vanilla bean and make your own vanilla whipped cream. That way you get a little more bang for your buck. Vanilla beans infuse really well in a lot of stuff.. might be worth a try!
Now Sondra I think you might just be on to something here!! What amazing idea! You would just have to freeze the whipped cream after you infused it because the frozen cream is what gives you that dreamy texture. Fantastic idea! I think I will have to give it a try! 🙂
There is actually a coffee base version of the drink it’s called the cafe vanilla frapp at starbucks (:
