Whereas most Mexican dishes are fairly high in carbs, I’ve made certain that each of these recipes is low carb. So that is why I’ve omitted certain ingredients in these recipes, such as regular tortillas or rice. But that doesn’t mean these meals are lacking in flavor! All of these keto Mexican recipes are seasoned to perfection! Whether you’re making one of these recipes for meal prep, a family dinner night or a date night, your table is sure to be impressed!
The best keto substitutions for Mexican food
While traditional tortillas and rice are out of the question on a keto diet, there are substitutions out there! Several tortilla brands make low-carb tortillas that many people on keto find acceptable. I like to use Mission’s Carb Master Tortillas. They come in several different flavors and sizes, varying from 3-5 net carbs each. While these don’t fall under the strict keto guidelines, it has worked for me.
Cauliflower rice is the closest keto-friendly rice alternative I’ve found. Even if you’re not a huge cauliflower fan, I highly encourage you to try this Cilantro Lime Cauliflower Rice–The vegetable soaks up those delicious flavors so well, and it complements traditional Mexican flavors really well.
